Supporting Local Youth by Aimee Morrison & Heather Vercoe
Sarah, Aimee and Heather are shown working on a collaborative task involving looking at photos of the Burmese refugee children and deciding on the key ideas contained in an e-mail sent to our class by Jace Hobbs.
We are interested in helping a local person establish a Youth Club in the Edgecumbe area. The purpose of the Youth Club is to provide young people with a safe environment in which they can socialise and have fun together. We plan to assist with developing flyers, getting information out to the community, and with the organisation and activities of the Youth Club.
We're learning that there's a lot involved in setting up a group to assist young people. Not only is a location needed but we also need funding to provide the resources for the activities and adults are required to supervise and raise funds. There are a lot of talented young people in the Edgecumbe community and we need to encourage them to get behind this project.
