The image shows Kate and Maea working on the planning of their Inquiry-Action project.

Maea: I was in the eco warriors at Rotorua intermediate and was able to help build them a compost system.
I want to achieve a lot this year. I want to have a working compost system up and running by the end of this year and have some new gardens planted containing flowers and vegetables. I want to be able to use the flowers and vegetables for cooking and decoration around the school and give away some of what we produce to people in need around Edgecumbe.
Kate
I want to know more about composting and how it helps individuals and society.
Adrian: I know composting is to do with food scraps. You can use the compost in a worm farm. It’s good to compost because it releases less greenhouse gas. I want to make the school greener by reducing the rubbish around the school and the school carbon foot print.
Arapeta: I participated in the tree-planting at Karaponga Reserve and learnt how high to plant a tree so it won’t die; you have to pull out the roots so it won’t grow into a spiral and suffocate in the ground.
I want to learn how to make compost so I can make one at home and encourage my friends to do the same.
