Bugs in our Water - by Jessica and Shavaun

What do bugs do in our waters and why do we have to have them there? Are bugs in the water are a good thing to have or are they a pest? We are planning to spend a day with the Environment Bay of Plenty or the Whakatane Council. We will ask if we can come and identify and sample the bugs for our inquiry. Our interest in this developed when we visited Whakatane earlier this year and spent some time with a woman from Environment Bay of Plenty. One of the activities we did was to look in a bucket of water that she had collected from a local waterfall early that morning. It was fascinating to see the different bugs in the water and we're both curious to know why they're there and why the people from EnvoBOP need to collect information about them. We're hoping we can find a way to help out. We'll also find out what you need to do to have a career working in and for the environment.
